- John's performance review is coming up next week. He's nervous about it because he hasn't heard much from his manager about how he's doing. He's been late a few times so he wonders if that will count against him, and he had a few conflicts with a coworker, and he struggled with a project he was working on. When he meets with his manager, he learns his performance scores did suffer. He was docked points for these problems and others he wasn't even aware of. Meanwhile, at the company across the street, Meena has had similar performance problems. But when she started showing up late, her manager met with her and simply asked her what was going on and how he could help. She shared that her child had a severe flu and they agreed that as long as she communicated, the team would make it work until her child was better.
