Welcome

- You love your company. You see a future with your current employer. You've invested years of your time and talent building a name for yourself and now you see an internal job posting you'd be perfect for. Welcome to the process of internal interviewing. Since you know how the company operates and who works where and what's important to company leaders, you might assume you have the internal interview in the bag. Not so fast. Whether you're looking to move into a new department or into a position of leadership or grow your current role, interviewing within the company means you are once again a job candidate. While there are advantages you bring as an existing employee, there could be negatives too. Navigating the positives and the negatives, understanding the expectations and protocols of internal interviewing and setting yourself up for interview success requires preparation, research, and focus. Hi, I'm Lida Citroen, a reputation management and personal branding specialist who coaches and trains professionals on building influential and impactful careers. I'm a TED and Keynotes speaker and a consultant who helps professionals transition and pivot their careers internally and externally. In this course, I'll walk you through the differences between internal and external job interviews. I'll spell out some tips for success and guide you through the preparation process to ensure you bring your best self to the interview, then I'll help you navigate some of the unique features of an internal interview, such as, when do you inform your current boss? How do you assess your reputation at the company? And how will you go back to your current job if you don't get the new job? Get a pen and paper ready and let's talk about internal interviewing.
