- Virtually every business has a trademark, whether they know it or not. Your trademark is your brand. Whether it's your product name, or your business name, or both. We live in a brand-oriented society, where brands are all competing for our attention everywhere. The value and prominence of brands has risen dramatically over the past 30 years. Today, it's more important than ever that companies of all sizes protect their brands. Even more important than protecting your brand is avoiding litigation risk.
Adopting a new name or slogan has never been more risky. I'm Dana Robinson, and I'm an IP attorney. I've done trademark work for some of the biggest brands in America, as well as start-ups and small businesses. I'd like to demystify trademark law, and help you understand the ins and outs. In this course, I'll teach you about trademarks, help you understand how to diminish risk, walk you through the filing process, and even help you with what you should do if someone else is using your brand, and what to do if someone accuses you of using their brand.
