- In the modern product development zeitgeist, data is king. I bet you've seen almost everyone praise the virtues of data-driven decision making. It's not uncommon thinking that every single successful product out there is developed solely through the use of A/B testing, data analysis, user tests, or countless other quantitative methods. In fact, almost every product manager is taught from the beginning never to assume anything. Well, I'm here to tell you that there's a good argument to be made about data being less useful than it might appear to be. That might sound crazy, but I want to be clear that I'm not saying data is useless. Quite the opposite. It's very, very useful but the key is how and when you use it.
