Using persuasion

- In one sense, every speech you give is a persuasive speech. You need to persuade your audience that you are an effective speaker, that your topic is important and interesting and that you are organized and knowledgeable. Of course, the persuasive speech has to present information just like the informative speech, but the persuasive speech goes beyond that. It has a specific purpose to change the audience's viewpoint, to convince your audience to do something, to believe that your opinion is correct. The persuasive speech is certainly a challenging one. Let's examine why and what must be considered in writing the speech. As always, one of the first steps in writing a speech is choosing a topic. The topic you choose for a persuasive speech must be one that you have a strong opinion about but aren't so emotionally biased that you are too close-minded. You do need to acknowledge that those who believe differently from you may have valid points, so think about what you do believe and why…
