- When I think about industries I have sold into over the course of my selling career, I'm not sure there's one that's changed more and at a more rapid pace than telecommunications and it keeps changing. Consumer demand is increasing for even faster and more diverse forms of connection and of course new technology. Also revenue is declining. As competition increases, consumers use more data which means the price that telecommunications companies can charge is decreasing, so what's on the horizon for the telecommunications industry? Let's start with 5G. Currently being rolled out, 5G is the fifth generation wireless. It is the latest development in cellular technology and it is designed to greatly increase the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks. With 5G, data transmitted over wireless broadband connections could travel at unbelievable rates. Next we have IoT. IoT is the Internet of things.
