- One of our clients has an employee whose title is Mayor. Seriously, he's the Mayor of the company. His name is Dave and he's in charge of the employee experience. Dave fills out the culture of his company all over the world. But what if you read Mayor as Dave's title on LinkedIn? Obscure titles are one of the major challenges for today's business development reps. You can't tell who the players are even with a scorecard. And organizational charts are kind of like jungle gyms instead of ladders. So how do you know who the Mayor reports to? Or what the VP of Innovation does? Let me give you a few tricks to help you decrypt a non-traditional job title. Look at their LinkedIn profile and scroll down their career path. What did this person do before their current job?
