Tips for thinking positively

- This video is about how to increase the happiness in your life by improving your internal dialog. But first I want to ask you, do you believe in luck? Do you think that there are people out there who are lucky or who are unlucky? Are you one of either of those types? And what do you think causes some people to be lucky? Are they just born like that or do they somehow make their own luck? In which case, is it really luck at all or something else? My personal belief is that we all get dealt good and bad cards by life. And certainly there are some rare cards that are very big and which affect our lives massively, like what type of family we're born into. And then there are fatal or debilitating illness and accidents happening either to us or to those close to us, and that is luck. But leaving aside these big cards, which are rare, the vast majority of cards that are dealt to us by life are small good and bad ones, and these average out. It's then more of a question of how we react to them. Some people are really knocked sideways by every bad one. Every setback feels huge, they dwell on it, they take ages to recover from it, so they notice the bad cards much more. "Why does this kind of thing always happen to me?" Others move on rapidly, maybe taking some learning from the setbacks with the attitude what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, and it could've been worse. And it's possible that people with a negative, victim type of attitude attract even more of the bad events, because they affect the behavior of others around them. So, how can a person who's in the negative loop, the negative frame of mind about their life change and escape from it? How can an unlucky person become lucky? Well, the only thing you can change is yourself. How you think, what you say, and what you do. And this change starts with how you think, what you say to yourself inside your own head. So, the rule is never say or even think negative thoughts about yourself, or about the future. Never dwell on what might happen, because visualizing something going wrong makes it more likely to happen. This is because your subconscious will take actions to move you towards whatever you visualize. And when you think about good things, like the caveman planning to catch the mammoth and visualizing a delicious feast of roast mammoth, then this is a helpful ability, because it makes him braver. But when you're worrying about and focusing on problems, it all goes horribly wrong and it gives you the things that you don't want. So, from now on, it's going to be only positive thoughts in your head. Positive thoughts about what has happened, positive thoughts about what's going on right now, and positive expectations about the future. What's your commonest negative thought pattern and what could you have as the positive replacement, and what's the thing that you're worrying about most right now? And what are you going to have as the positive replacement for that?
