- One of the hardest parts of working on a data science team is making the insights actionable. The work should start to feel like an ongoing science experiment. You get a little bit of date, the research lead drives interesting questions, then the questions spur more reports which usually lead to even more questions. In this whirl of exploration, the team needs to focus on the purpose of gathering the data. There also needs to be a mechanism to gain insights. I once worked for an organization that had a very creative data science team. They were coming up with new and interesting ways of using the company's vast credit card data. The first few months they were mostly left to explore, which led to some really interesting insights.
