- So it's important to remind our students that you have actually experienced depression, and that you are not always like happy, so that this is something that no matter where they are right now, if they're having a bad day, if they are feeling depressed, they can still access that inner joy and happiness. Can you talk to us about that? - Absolutely, so while I was at the divinity school I went through two years of depression myself. 80% of Harvard students report experiencing depression at some point, and I was one of those statistics, and for me, depression's different for everyone. But for me it was like I wandered out into this swamp and couldn't, couldn't figure out how I got in there. But, well more importantly, I couldn't figure out how I could get back out of it, and the thing that I learned from that experience, part of what pulled me out of it, was I started doing these habits on a daily basis, of seeing if I could practice creating a more positive mind set, in the middle…
