- While conducting sales and business development activities, people might not be willing to set up a planned meeting with you. However, they're often very willing to meet with you if you just happen to be in the neighborhood on short notice. When you're traveling, this is a great way to get meetings that have been hard to come by. You can do this to manufacture these situations by planning a trip to a specific city. I have one member of my team who is great at this. He decided he was going to go to New York. He than called about 20 different prospects and said, hey, I'm going to be in the city on these dates, would you be free to meet? A lot of them were busy, but what was really cool was they said, I feel bad I'm not gonna be in town, but you know what, let's set up a call, I'd love to talk to you again. He generated like 10 sales calls just by setting up that trip to New York City. Even if people don't meet with you, they're going to be open to that call since they can't meet, or…
