- Money is a key factor when making a career decision. It's important to think about your minimum salary and your ideal salary. But another question to consider is whether the industry or role you're interested in will pay these amounts. You need to do some research to find out. I'm going to suggest some resources that should help you identify a realistic salary range for particular roles and industries. The first resource is the Bureau Of Labor Statistics. The BLS website allows you to search by industry and job position, and is one of the most reliable sources of job data. The first step is to locate the wage information. You'll find this under the tab subject areas under the pay and benefits subsection. You can see there are quite a few selections. But to get the most detailed information, you want to click on wages by area and occupation.
