Remove sources of unhappiness
- An easy way to increase your overall happiness is to just to get rid of the things that make you unhappy. This could mean getting rid of so-called friends, people who annoy you, or who depress you, or who always let you down. Maybe you feel sorry for them, or you can't face telling them, or you keep giving them one more chance. But hang on a minute, it's your life and their bringing you down, so just quietly drop them, don't invite them, be too busy to see them. Getting rid of things could also mean situations, teams, or clubs that you don't want to be in anymore. Maybe you've grown out of them, or got bored with them, or the people have changed and you're finding them a bit of a chore. Maybe you've agreed to help run them, but now you wish you hadn't. Maybe it's time to give notice and ask them to find someone else. But what if they can't find anyone else? Well, they'll just have to. And of course they will. And don't feel guilty, you've done your bit, and anyway it's your life…
