- A review and maintenance check of your sales pipeline needs to be done on a regular basis. Failure to do so will cost you business. Bear with me for this comparison of another pipeline, but I think it's a good one. Has your kitchen sink ever drained slowly? There could be something blocking the flow right at the exit of the sink, or possibly it's something underneath the counter at at that U-trap, or maybe it's clogged further down the system. The same theory holds true for an examination of your sales pipeline and the need for a regular examination to ensure that each step is moving along at the right pace, nothing is slowing it up, stalling, or clogging up your sales process. You need to develop a checklist of items to review at each stage. They will be based on your sales structure, how your sales process works, and the way you evaluate your team.
