- These days using the SCRUM framework to do agile product development is so popular that there's probably some similar sounding roles you've seen in your own company or on job boards that left you scratching your head. One set of roles that's particularly confusing is the difference between product owner, product manager and project manager. Let's go over each of these to clarify. Firstly it's important to know that the roles of product owner and product manager are very often combined together into one role just called product manager. However it's certainly possible that some company's split them up into two separate roles. So to be thorough let's break them apart starting with product management.
