Join Dave Crenshaw for an in-depth discussion in this video Preparing for vacations, part of Balancing Work and Life.
I had a client joke once…that he should take vacations every week.…What he meant was that just before the vacation,…he'd work in a flurry of activity and become more productive,…so that he'd get everything done before he left…and then when he came back, he was more rested…and so he got more done by working hard.…Now, it's a crazy idea but there's an element of truth to that.…Many people work too much…and they need to take vacations more often.…Allow me to share with you a few ideas to get the most…out of your vacations and help you have better balance in your life.…
Number one is block out the time well in advance.…Now that sounds strange but many people tell themselves,…"I'm gonna do a vacation some time in the next three months"…and haven't actually committed a time to doing it.…Block out the time.…Number two is move processing.…Now if you've taken my time management course,…you'll know that I recommend people spend 5 hours a week on processing.…This is the time that you take to figure out…when everything goes in that schedule of yours.…
