From the course: Finding a Job

Prepare before your start date

- If you want to hit the ground running in your new role consider starting before you start. Offer your brain in a pre-read of training docs before day one or do a coffee or lunch with the new team. Some managers will happily take you up on this and other won't because they can contractually or are leery of you having too much access while you're wrapping up a current job. But it shows the initiative that you want to have a really great start. If you have the opportunity map out the best traffic routes to your new office and drive it one day to make sure you're confident in timing. It's also great to pre-connect to new colleagues on LinkedIn. Don't be scammy about finding 200 people but do thoughtfully reach out to those you interviewed with or key stakeholders you know you'll work closely with and express enthusiasm for starting. Finally make a plan for your first 30, 60 and 90 days. Whatta you want to accomplish in each timeframe and how will you set yourself apart during that time? If you share this with your boss in the first week it shows again your initiative and dedication to the role. And really what better way to make a great first impression.
