Pitfalls
- Focus is hard to maintain. There is some major pitfalls you might encounter as you try to focus your organization. Not clearly setting direction, you're team won't know what they're working toward. That makes it hard to focus on the right things. Failure to rigorously prioritize. Not everything can be a priority. Have a processes for ranking and resourcing incentives and projects. Getting distracted by new opportunities. That can overwhelm your team adding new work without making trade offs. You can burn your people out. You may stay too focused. This can lead you to miss other opportunities. And last, not regularly reassessing your priorities. You might not be pursuing the highest value work. Maintaining strategic focus requires you to balance saying no with being open to shifts and direction and the pursuit of new opportunities.
