- You're based in the field, you're not in the corporate office. People don't see you every day, don't hear from you every day, and it's so easy for the uninformed person to say, "Oh it's Friday, the sales people "are probably taking it easy today." Or how about, "You field sales people "get to take your kids to school every day, don't you?" The one that used to get me going was, "Dean, your good game must be pretty good "as a field sales rep." I always wanted to say, "Yeah, I make some sales calls in the morning, "I do a few emails, and off to the gold course I go." I may be a bit extreme with those examples, but if you were to conduct a poll, of a hundred fields sales people, I bet a majority have heard comments something like that. It's not fair, but it's not uncommon, for those in the office to make comments about those in the field, and you need to prepared for that.
