- Now is the most important part, taking action. If you haven't been tracking your networking activities, now's the time to start. Who are the top contacts you currently have today? And how frequently are you reaching out to them? Next, determine where your network needs work. Do you need to add new people or build loose ties with groups that you haven't really gotten to know before? Or are you thinking about joining a networking organization to focus on expanding your connections? And remember, in the long term, givers do much better than takers or even matchers, because networking is really just about building authentic relationships with people you like. And building those relationships is an ongoing activity. As you make progress be sure to keep learning. Check out some of the great resources that are available. There are dozens of books.
