- High-level people constantly have other people trying to get our attention. You're swamped with requests to pick your brain, buy you a cup of coffee, ask you a couple questions, or my personal favorite, discuss a mutually beneficial business relationship. It's garbage. Relationships aren't built like that, especially relationships with high-level people, they're built on trust. Dorie Clark, my good friend, is a Marketing and Strategy Consultant, and she's also a LinkedIn Learning Author. And in her book, Stand Out, she wrote this, "For any meaningful business transaction, "trust, built up over time, "is the essential ingredient." And she's right. You know, when we think about trust a lot of times we think about it in the personal sense. Trusting your spouse to be faithful, or trusting that your sibling is gonna stick up for you.
