HR is now of most value when acting as a business partner, providing guidance and coaching to managers in order to harness the talent and creativity of all employees. Leaders can no longer just tell people what to do. Leaders must motivate employees so that they want to contribute their best ideas to the organization. It makes sense then that the SHRM body of competency and knowledge defines the leadership and navigation competency as the HR pro's ability to direct and contribute to organizational initiatives and processes.
