Know when a project is about to end

- Life is great when you're on a consulting engagement and the cash is flowing in. But, you need to know the warning signs for when your engagement might be coming to an end. Here's some of the most common warning signs I know of. When your executive sponsor leaves the organization, your engagement is probably going to end within 30 to 45 days. I served one client for about a year. My executive sponsor left the organization, 30 days later that engagement terminated. When you start seeing other consultants working in adjacent areas at your client organization, that's a hint your engagement might be ending soon. Sometimes your clients will ask you for copies of your data, copies of your models, and even instructions on how to use them. That's another hint the engagement might be closing. Clients might ask you for billing summaries, or for invoices of work to date. That's another indication that the engagement is coming to an end. Last, you may see diminishing returns in your work…
