- When I think about key sales behaviors in retail, one of the top characteristics that comes to mind almost instantly is the idea of being helpful without being overbearing. There's a lot of stigma attached to the idea of negative retail sales behaviors, whether it's in a car dealership or a furniture shop. Nobody wants to feel like they're being hounded or somebody's creepishly following them around, or even worse, the customer feels swarmed the moment they enter the door. The key behavior to successful retail sales is to be helpful without being overbearing. Think back to your own experiences.
