- Does the introduction really matter? It's just a couple of opening lines, right; wrong. The tone for your entire presentation is set in just the first few words of your talk. As a team, spend some time thinking about the best way to strategically structure your introduction. You'll want to grab the audience's attention right from the beginning. Skip the good morning, or good afternoon, thanks for your time and attention, blah, blah, blah. Instead, say something that makes everyone in the audience sit up in their seats, or look away from their mobile devices. This is the hook. And a good hook not only grabs the audience's attention, but lays the foundation for the content to come. There are lots of engaging ways to start a presentation, if you need some ideas, three tried and true presentation openers are questions, quick stories and quotes.
