- The SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge separates the human resource practice into technical or knowledge competencies and behavioral competencies. Technical competencies can be described as the what, or the expertise HR practitioners need to master in order to do their job well. The technical competencies are separated into three knowledge domains, which are People, Organization, and Workplace. This represents 50% of the SHRM-CP exam. 17% of the questions on the SHRM-CP exam are from the People domain, 17% from the Organization domain, and 16% from the Workplace domain.
