- If you have children, then you already likely know the easiest way to teach them is through stories. Recent research in the study of neuroscience has shed light on why stories are so influential. As it turns out, it's not just the flow and engagement of a traditional story but also visualization in general. The reason, when we follow a narrative or visualize something, it imprints on our brain in a very different place than where we process facts and data. In fact, it imprints on our brain in the very area that's ultimately responsible for theory of mind and emotion. It just so happens to be the same area where we initiate decision making. In essence, visual storytelling bypasses the skeptical part of our brain and triggers the areas that allow influence to take place, the areas that allow change to happen.
