- Hi I'm Craig Runde, and welcome to Improving Your Conflict Competence. In this course we'll explore how to respond to work-place conflict more effectively. First, we'll go over the nature of conflict competence. We'll go over what is required to improve your confidence and capacity, to manage the inevitable conflicts that all people face at work. Then we'll spend time looking at how to manage your emotions and conflicts. Conflict is all about emotions, so by learning how to recognize and regulate your emotions, you'll be better able to address problems in a calmer, more collective state of mind.
Finally, we'll discuss specific behaviors you can use to come up with better resolutions to conflict. We'll look at the specific communication behaviors to use, and ones to avoid. We'll also address how you can help others in your organization deal more effectively with conflict.
