Join Dave Crenshaw for an in-depth discussion in this video I'm pursuing a degree outside of work. How do I keep my personal time?, part of Balancing Work and Life.
When you're going to school…and when you have a job…and you're also juggling perhaps family,…that really creates a lot of pressure…on your schedule.…In those situations,…that's where the calendar becomes…even more important.…What you want to start with,…I would start in reverse.…First, by asking yourself the question,…how much time do I want for myself?…How much time do I want for my family?…Start with that because that's most important.…Then build the career schedule…and the school schedule around that.…
Most people fit in family, personal time…after the fact,…and that's really leaving yourself open…to missing out on time.…It's just going to get swallowed up.…So start with the most important thing.…Work backward and, of course, recognize…that for a short period of time…it is going to be tough.…You may not have as much time to spend…with yourself or with loved ones as you like.…It's just a temporary thing,…but still you can spend some time with them.…
