The example of Macy's strategy of using current Latino Employees to attract latinos customers is feeds bias, and discriminatory behaviors in of itself. Being Latino/Latina does not make us all the same. Ethnicity is nothing more than that- ethnicity. I can sit in a room full of latinos and have nothing in common with them, just like I can sit in a room filled with other ethnic backgrounds and feel like we are all the same. This stereotyping strategy should be used with caution as i believe it to be discriminating by the simple fact of assuming Latinos know other Latinos. Latinos have a long history of oppression and therefore often feel safe around other latinos, but that is exactly the change we need in the world. We should be able to identify with ethnic groups different from our own, we should feel safe and included with other ethnic groups even if an ad, professional team, company does not already have someone with our ethnic background. We are more than our ethnicity.
