- Look before you leap is probably a wise saying when it's related to hiring vendors. Setting up a vendor is a job, itself. Have you ever made a big decision too quickly and then wish you had planned better? Well, this is no different. There's a lot to consider and plan before actually moving forward with vendors. Let's take a look at several items to address when setting up vendors. First, a needs analysis should be conducted before a company decides if a vendor is right for the HR department. During the needs assessment, the company should be able to answer these questions honestly: How much is this going to cost and do we have the budget for this? Will there be any loss of productivity? Can HR administer the onboarding of HR vendors without disrupting the company's current operations? Will this be a top-down approach? Does the CEO and upper management support outsourcing?
