How to conduct a user interview

- A successful interview takes more than simply asking the right questions. A successful interview is the result of a combination of good questions and the way you conduct yourself as the interviewer. Your body language and presence in the room itself can dramatically impact the success of your interview. Before you start an interview you'll want to get into character as a researcher. When you're in interview mode you want to be friendly, engaging, and casual. It's time to put on a smile, leave judgment and assumptions at the door, and become as curious as possible. You'll want to take thorough notes and you may even start by asking the interview subject if you can record the interview on audio or video. This will make your job easier and allow you to stay focused on the individual and not just your own note taking. Throughout the conversation, keep a smile and positive demeanor.
