- Many times on job board sites or on LinkedIn We'll see professionals making posts with the very happy statement, we're hiring! It's good news that signifies that either they're replacing an existing opening, or that the company's business is healthy and they're adding to staff. Hiring staff is a real positive situation. Conversely, in business today we all know friends or coworkers who've been downsized, redeployed, laid off, or heard the ugly words, "You're fired." I hope it's never happened to you, but if so, you're not alone. The positives of hiring and the negatives of firing are two aspects of human resources practices that are so often just not done well.
