Finishing with a strong ending

- You told your audience what you were going to tell them in your Introduction. You actually told them in the Body of your speech. And now, you are ready to tell them what you told them. You're ready to summarize your key points and end with something your audience will remember. However before we talk about what to do and look at good examples, let's first look at what not to do. The final words should probably not be "Thank you," or "Well, I guess that's all," or "Oops, my time's up," or even, "I've probably rambled on long enough," or "I'm done." Also think about the message and endings such as, "I hope I've explained to you," or "I hope I've convinced you since." That hope could easily reduce your credibility and the audience's confidence in you. You should sound certain that you clearly explained your topic and persuaded your audience to your way of thinking. So now, "What are the characteristics "of an effective ending?"
