- One of my clients assembles airplanes. It was neat to walk down the assembly line where the plane starts off as parts, and as you weave through the line it becomes a body. Then the workers add one wing, then the other, then the tail, the parts inside. It was like watching an airplane be born. Now, you might be wondering how they decided on that sequence for the assembly line. Well there are three factors this airplane manufacturer, and you, have to take into consideration as you design jobs. They are organizational, environmental, and behavioral. Let's start with organizational factors, which includes workflow, or the sequence of tasks. Like the airplane manufacturer, you have to determine the best order for things to occur, given logistics, common sense, what's most efficient, workspace, and more. How do you do that?
