- Welcome to lesson five. So this lesson, let's take time to think about what ignites joy in us. What images, or songs, or activities help us access that sense of wonder? For me, it's this picture of this little boy lying on the grass with a June bug on his forehead. It was taken by the great photographer, Gordon Parks, in Fort Scott, Kansas in 1963, the same year as the march on Washington, in the middle of the civil rights movement. And what I love about it is that it reminds me that even in the moment when everything else around us is in chaos, when there is an extraordinary amount of pain, and suffering, and tragedy, we can access that peace that's always available to us. So this picture is the last thing I see every night before I turn off the lights, and it's the first thing I see every morning when I wake up, and it's an incredible reminder.
