The best way to start working with a recruiter is to have them come to you. You should be using your networking and online profile to attract the attention of recruiters. However, if that doesn't work, you can approach recruiters directly. You will want to have a good strategy in place. The first thing you want to think about the timing of your approach. You want to establish a relationship with a recruiter before you need them. Whether right or wrong, recruiters look for people that are currently employed and happy with their careers.
