- Where does innovation come from? When I say innovation, I'm talking about improvements, new ways of doing things in your business that help you grow and increase profitability. Now, in small businesses, the entrepreneur, the business owner, is primarily responsible for innovation. However, you can involve your employees in the process, and certainly your customers have something to offer as well. So first let's talk about how we can get employees involved in innovation. The first thing is to publicly encourage their suggestions. That means in company meetings, and in your documents you repeatedly wanna talk about how much you want to hear their suggestions, their ideas for improvements. Sometimes employees feel like "I shouldn't do that. "I'm going to offend my business owner "or my boss by making suggestions". So first create a culture that encourages those suggestions.
