- Most every company has a need to manage the data associated with payroll, time and attendance, and benefits as a key piece of their day-to-day operations. Payroll can be managed internally using desktop software like QuickBooks Payroll, or an online version such as Intuit Payroll. Other times, it's been outsourced to a payroll company like ADP or Paylocity. Since many payroll companies offer human resource information programs, it's a source to consider. On the flip side, many HRIS vendors also have their own payroll processing. You'll have to decide if you want to move over to the payroll vendor's payroll platform, assuming they have one, or integrate the HRIS with your existing payroll system through what's known as an application programming interface, or API for short.
