- Early in my sales career, I used to complain about the lack of sales data and any consistent way of showing results visually. Sure, we had information from our corporate mainframes and printouts would be distributed monthly, but most sales people found it to be inadequate. We developed our own rogue databases to keep our account information, created our own spreadsheets, and charts so that we could monitor the status of our sales results.
