Crucial early impressions
- At your first meeting with a leader, impressions happen fast and shape decisions. They channel the leader toward that binary yes or no. Yes, I really want to work with this person, or, mmm, maybe not. And maybe not is a no. From the very beginning you want your leader to think and feel, one, you're definitely able to help them, two, that they can be fully open with you, and three, that they'll look forward to your meetings. Those three factors are crucial. So, you need to prepare in advance to come across at your best from the first moment of the first meeting in three key ways. First, credibility. Are you an excellent coach? Second, character. Can I really trust you? Third, connection. Do I like spending time with you? You want to come across from the start as a strong yes for all three.
