Create a value stream map
- Most organizations find it pretty challenging to map up their current process. After a while your business processes start to feel like old office furniture. Everyone takes it for granted and they're comfortable with how it looks. Don't fall into the trap of accepting things, because that's the way it's always been. That's why you want to spend plenty of time trying to figure out your current process to make high level process improvements. This can help you eliminate as much waste as possible. Waste are all the things that you do that not necessarily add value to the customer through the extra steps in your process that don't improve the product. That's why you want to focus on creating the leanest path from beginning to end. The best way to start is to create a large visual presentation of your process.
