Create a unique value proposition
- Think about why you have a total rewards program. I bet it's to attract, retain, and motivate great talent, so you have to focus communication about your rewards on that talent. You have to market your organization to your employees. Sell them on why it's a great place to work. So let's talk about value propositions. A value proposition is a one sentence statement that explains what benefit you provide for whom, and why it's unique. So let's create one to describe the advantages of your total rewards. Here are the four steps. First, define your target market. Just like a marketing professional, you have to understand your demographics. Who is your average employee? Should they all get the same message, or will you need to adjust it for differing segments? Once you understand your employee demographics you'll be able to better answer the question, what problem are employees trying to solve by leaving your company?
