Join Doug Rose for an in-depth discussion in this video Create tasks in JIRA, part of Agile Project Management: Comparing Agile Tools.
- [Instructor] In our last video…we set up our Sprints.…Now we did this by moving our user stories…from our product backlog into our Sprint…and then coming up with a time and then starting it up.…In this video, we're going to start tasking out…our user stories.…Now Jira, because of its legacy as a issue tracking program,…doesn't really distinguish much…between tasks and stories…and that's not a great thing for your agile team…because there's a big difference between…tasks and user stories.…You shouldn't do your work off of user stories,…you should do your work off of daily tasks.…
That's one of the ways that outside stakeholders…have insight into your team.…They can see daily tasks moving across the board.…Plus, your user stories are little statements…of customer value.…They shouldn't be about day to day work.…They're not issues, as Jira sees them in the program.…So let's take a look at our user story.…Now again, we don't want our user story…hopping across the board, in progress, done.…We want our tasks to do that.…
