Create impact with focus

- It's important to identify if you have an issue with focus. Understanding the causes are the first step toward achieving it. Here's a quick assessment. First, get an inventory of all the projects your team is working on. Estimate how many hours each project takes per week, and add it all up. Then, add up all the hours your team has available during a given week. Be sure to remove things like meetings, email, and other unproductive time. If the first number is bigger than the second number, you have a problem. You might not be saying no to distractions. Next, revisit your business cases from your top five projects from last year. Did those projects hit their impact projections? If no, you might have a problem. You're not delivering quality work because you're spread too thin. Last, did any of your projects win awards You might not be working on the most meaningful opportunities.
