'Compacting' explained

- Continuing from the idea of getting rid of clutter, I'd like to cover something called compacting next. The idea of compacting is that if you don't put things into the system, then the system, which is your house full of stuff, will gradually empty. It saves you money, obviously, and also the time required for shopping. And as you gradually wear things out or use them up, your stock of items slowly reduces, giving you more space and a good feeling. And it's good for the planet, too. Clearly for consumable things like food or shampoo, it will be good to use up what you've got. Or for those weird old shampoos that have been sitting in your bathroom cupboard for years, you might rather throw them away or give them to someone else rather than use them, which is great, too. If you didn't buy any clothes or shoes for, say, a year, you'd have to wear some of those things that you don't normally wear or perhaps have bought and never worn or only worn once.
