Choosing a general topic

- So, you have to give a speech. Feared words, for most people. Once you get over the initial panic, assuming you do, you are ready to begin writing your speech. But several planning questions must be answered before you begin to actually write the speech. One of the first questions is, "What am I going to speak about?" Sometimes you will at least have a general speech direction. You've been asked to introduce the keynote speaker, or you've been told that you will share your department's best practices at the next company meeting. Or maybe you have a class speech assignment, you have to tell a story, or share with your class your most admired business person. Whether you are an employee or a student, you could be asked to give a sales presentation. As an employee you know your topic will be the product you are selling.
