- We all make assumptions. It's not a question if you do it. It's a matter of how often you do it and how often they go unchecked. You see, not all assumptions are created equal. Some are trivial, others are potentially devastating, but almost every single one of them is faulty. It's easy to make assumptions. All you need is incomplete information about a situation and an unwillingness to ask the questions you need to fully understand. In the absence of complete information, you're gonna fill in the blanks yourself because that's what your brain is hardwired to do. You fill in the blanks with your interpretation of what you see or hear and your interpretation comes from past experiences that seem similar, but they're not. Armed with your information, you fill in those blanks that aren't there. Assumptions can lead to dangerous consequences. Sometimes silly, but other times quite serious.
