- [Instructor] When agencies decide to open their data and publish it for use by anyone, what platform do they use to do this? Even though the open-data space is fairly new, there's beginning to be a marketplace for providers. Here I've listed a few of the better known and popular platforms. These platforms originate from several different countries, and they include open source. In particular, CKAN, which stands for Comprehensive Knowledge Archive Network, it's a web-based open source management system for open-data. It is maintained by the Open Knowledge Foundation. Public agencies in the US, UK, the Netherlands, and Australia are among the many users. Even though a marketplace of commercially available solutions exists, the basics for an open-data portal don't require complex platforms.
