- Patience is a virtue, one I don't have. I hate being stuck in traffic, or being in the slow grocery store line. I expect people to do what they say they will do, by when they said they would do it. In other words, I'm not a patient person. When I'm waiting for an answer on something I really want, I become even more impatient. I'm sure some of you can relate. You invested hours, researching, planning and crafting your proposal and you submitted it, and the waiting begins. The longer you wait the more anxious you become. If your proposal was in response to an RFP then the awarding date was probably included, but what about those other categories, the unsolicited internal and external, and even the internal solicited proposal? You're not in a position to demand an RSVP by the end of the week. After submitting a proposal how long should you wait before contacting a potential client to learn if it's been accepted, rejected, or if more information is needed a few days, a week? Probably…
